Popcorn Reef Sleepover format - FAQ Here - Bring your own chairs or blankets if you so choose (regular seating is always also available)
To celebrate the one year anniversary of our screening series at The Adams Ave Theater, we wanted to pick a real crowd pleaser. So here was our brainstorm process. It’s St. Patrick’s week, which is, of course, the best time of the year to get into a bar brawl. And we’re always looking for more ways to celebrate the Great Saint Patrick Swayze. Do you see where we’re headed?
Grab your philosophy books and get ready to put your dukes up, folks. We’re taking you back to The Double Deuce on March 13th for ROAD HOUSE, Popcorn Reef Sleepover style.
All theme night-edness aside, ROAD HOUSE is one of our favorite movies of all time at Popcorn Reef, and we’re so stoked that we’ve finally found the right time to screen it. Director Rowdy Herrington’s blockbuster all-time classic is both a lighthearted, ass-kicking action comedy, and a brooding meditation on the tragic nature of man. Name another film that can legitimately bring you to both places over the course of two hours, and the next round will be on us.
As usual, we encourage you to come dressed in your favorite sleepover gear, or you can throw on your most impressive bar brawl-ready outfit for this one. We’ll see you on Wednesday, March 13th for a wild night of throat-rippin’ action in Normal Heights. We didn't want to do it on the 17th, because we figured you'd all be too wasted to show up.
ROAD HOUSE Synopsis:
A mysterious bouncer named Dalton (Patrick Swayze) is hired to clean up the baddest honkytonk in Missouri. Armed with a black belt in karate and a Ph.D. in philosophy, Dalton sets out to tame The Double Deuce, but runs into various forms of resistance along the way.
