We're pumped to offer most of the shows we do over at The Adams Ave Theater in Normal Heights in the "Popcorn Reef Sleepover" format. Basically what this means is, if you don't want to sit in the traditional banquet-style seating we have at the theater, you can bring your own foldable, camping-style chairs, or your own blanket and pillows to rest on, to make things officially a "sleepover." Of course, the movies we're screening when we offer this format will also take you back to a time when you might have been doing the whole sleepover thing in the first place. A full FAQ is below, and if you have further questions, please contact eddie@popcornreef.com
“What the hell is Popcorn Reef Sleepover?”
It’s a new idea we’ve been working on with The Adams Avenue Theater that’s designed to let you take a night off from 2024 and feel like you’re back in 1980, or 1990-something. Remember when you could post up on a Friday night, have some Gushers and a Capri Sun, and watch whatever was on Cinemax with your friends all night long while your parents had no clue what was happening? That’s basically what we’re going to do here - except in a giant concert hall with alcohol. Pajamas and/or costumes are encouraged, and if you come in something especially eye-catching, you might just win a prize.
We’ve also decided to open the floor plan up at The Adams to let you take your nostalgia trip a bit further. A portion of the theater floor will be completely open. We encourage you to bring blankets, pillows, and whatever else you want to lounge with directly on the ground, or you can bring your favorite camping chair* to sit in.
What if I don't want to bring my own stuff? Can I just watch the movie normally in a regular seat?
Absolutely. If this doesn’t sound appealing, we still have a traditional seating area set up as well. This just gives you the option to watch the movie in a couple new ways.
Are there restrictions on what types of camping chairs I can bring?
Yes. If you're bringing camping chairs, please only bring those in a single or double format. Anything more heavy duty than that might bother the floors at The Adams.
What if I have more questions about this?
