On July 20th, Comic-Con is back, and to celebrate the occasion, we've teamed up with The Tenth Avenue Arts Center (which, by the way, is walking distance from the Con), along with Grindhouse Releasing and Blue Underground, to take your convention...to another dimension!

After the Con on Thursday, hit The Tenth and join us for a double feature you'll never forget as we bring you the first annual REVENGE OF THE POPCORN FEST!

To commence the evening, we can't wait to hit you with the San Diego Premiere of Grindhouse Releasing's 4K restoration of one of the most shocking and demented thrillers of the 1970s. Get ready for William Shatner, like you've never seen him before, in IMPULSE.

"Shatner like I've never seen him? What do you mean by that?" Have you ever seen Shatner play a serial killer gigolo in a leisure suit? We're guessing the answer is no. And trust us, it's as awesome as it sounds. Perry Fulkerson from The Evening Independent says, "Shatner is incredible and frightening during his lapses into insanity. There are a number of vividly horrifying murder scenes which make even adults cringe." And Box Office Magazine adds, "[It's a] grim, unrelenting study of a psychopathic killer. Shatner is surprisingly strong in an enormously demanding role." We're pumped to host this criminally underseen cult classic, finally back on the big screen for the first time in San Diego since disco was a thing.

And if that wasn't enough, we've also got a special 40th anniversary screening of legendary director Ralph Bakshi (FRITZ THE CAT, LORD OF THE RINGS) and artist Frank Frazetta's (CONAN THE BARBARIAN, TALES FROM THE CRYPT) unforgettable collaboration, FIRE AND ICE, to cap the evening off. FIRE AND ICE is a beautiful dark fantasy tale that famously used the "rotoscope" technique of filming scenes in live action with real actors, and then turning those movements into a final product of animation. It doesn't get more Comic-Con to us than William Shatner coupled with a ride to a mystical fantasy world. And we're making it all happen - at REVENGE OF THE POPCORN FEST!

Come early and bring some food when the doors open at 7 to hang out with like-minded folks and enjoy a panoramic view of downtown at The Top of the Tenth - The Tenth Avenue Arts Center's rooftop lounge. It's a night of murder, adventure, and chilling out after being at the convention center all day. We can't wait to see you there.

IMPULSE Synopsis:

A paranoid, leisure-suit-wearing conman/gigolo named Matt Stone (William Shatner) seduces lonely women, bilks them of their savings via an investment scam, then kills them. When he begins seeing an attractive widow, her daughter Tina becomes suspicious of his motives. Directed by exploitation staple William Grefe. This is the San Diego Premiere of Grindhouse Releasing's wonderful new 4K restoration of the film, which will be available on Blu-ray later this summer.

FIRE AND ICE Synopsis:

From the director of the original animated THE LORD OF THE RINGS and the illustrator of CONAN THE BARBARIAN: It began as a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration between two of the greatest icons of the fantasy genre: Controversial animator Ralph Bakshi (director of FRITZ THE CAT, WIZARDS, and the original THE LORD OF THE RINGS) and legendary illustrator Frank Frazetta (creator of the iconic CONAN THE BARBARIAN, VAMPIRELLA, and Edgar Rice Burroughs book covers.) It became – and remains – one of the most startling animation epics of all time. Now experience a world unlike any ever seen, where savage warriors, horrific monsters and luscious maidens battle for the soul of a civilization in a time of good and evil, pleasure and pain, and FIRE AND ICE.
