Since we started this thing, we knew it would be inevitable that Popcorn Reef would one day make its way to the beach. But we didn’t know that we would literally be able to screen films at a venue just steps away from the sand. It looks like dreams continue to come true around here...

We’re very excited to announce that we’ve teamed up with the fine folks at El Prez in Pacific Beach to turn Candy’s Boom Boom Room downstairs into a movie theater for the night. And it’s going to be a lavish one at that. We’re talking couch seating, table service with food and a full bar, and a boom-bastic sound system that we’re hoping you’ll stick around to enjoy as we do some dancing after the film is over. The party begins on Tuesday, October 17th, as we hit you with a special 20th Anniversary screening of the PB fan favorite, OLD SCHOOL.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years since OLD SCHOOL first came out. But at the same time, it would be nearly impossible to believe that a movie like OLD SCHOOL could be made today. A comedic masterpiece that launched Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn into superstardom and defined the humor of a generation, OLD SCHOOL is a classic among classics, and needs no introduction. If you’ve ever seen it with a crowd of people, you’ll know that the experience makes it that much more hilarious, and that’s exactly why we’ve picked it as our first film to show at Candy’s.

Did we mention that your ticket also includes a welcome cocktail from Topo Chico and bag of popcorn from El Prez? It might have been a while since you’ve been able to sit in a room and yell out lines like “I’m here for the gangbang,” “Earmuffs!”, and, “Hey Blue, how come there’s no ice in my lemonade?” amongst your peeps. But why else would we be setting up a movie theater in PB? We aim to inspire you to do some streaking out at the beach after too, but who knows...KFC might not be open that late.

Please Note:

-Doors open at 7, and the movie starts promptly at 7:30. Seating is first come, first serve.

-This is a 21+ event and ID will be checked at the door.

-The price of your ticket includes a ticket from El Prez that is redeemable for a welcome cocktail from Topo Chico and popcorn upon entry.

-There will be no delivery of tickets via shipping or email - we'll simply have your name on the list at the door (plus however many tickets you buy). Please bring your ID for verification purposes to check in. We can check in partial parties too, so if you're buying for multiple people and you're arriving at different times, don't worry about it.

-We’re sticking around after the show to play some jams on the Candy’s Boom Boom Room system, and we hope you’ll join us for some dancing.
