If you’ve been with us since the beginning, you’ll know that a ton of Popcorn Reef’s roots are embedded in an obsession for Italian genre cinema. We can’t get enough, and apparently you can’t either, San Diego, so we’re taking things a step further.

Welcome to Mamma Mia Mondays, a brand new series designed to let you explore every niche subgenre of Italian cinema on the big screen in the deepest possible way. Whether it’s Giallo, Poliziotteschi, rip-off flicks, Cannibal trash, Zombies, Namsploitation, Sharksploitation, Sexploitation, or Nunsploitation, every time you come to Mamma Mia Mondays, you’re going to 1) get your shit rocked, and 2) learn something cinematic from the most unsung cohort of maverick filmmakers in history. Bring your own pizza - it’s about to pop off.

For our premiere Sunday edition of the series (excuse us - we had a scheduling conflict on the Monday, but we wanted to get the series rolling) we’re bringing a kick ass flick you’ve probably never heard of before to the big screen in San Diego for the first time, fresh off its restoration world premiere at the Severin Super Shock Fest at Brain Dead Studios in Los Angeles last month. On September 27th, prepare to experience THE SEXORCIST!

Italian bombshell Stella Carnacina stars as Danila, an art history grad student investigating religious sculptures. During a party, she casually walks in on her mom indulging in extreme sadomasochist acts, which leaves her traumatized. So, logically, not soon after, Satan himself (Ivan Rassimov - THE STRANGE VICE OF MRS. WARDH, EATEN ALIVE) enters the picture and exerts a demonic sexual influence on Danila that threatens the future of mankind, while Father Xeno (Luigi Pistilli - A BAY OF BLOOD, YOUR VICE) tries to come to the rescue.

Equal parts EXORCIST rip-off, sexploitation sleaze fest, and repressed Catholic fantasy, THE SEXORCIST (aka...get ready...OBSESSED, L’OSSESSA, ENTER THE DEVIL, and THE EERIE MIDNIGHT HORROR SHOW) is a cinematic jewel only the Italians could have made, and God bless them for it.

-Doors will open at 7 PM, and the show will start at 7:30 PM.

-There will be no delivery of tickets via shipping or email - we'll simply have your name on the list at the door (plus however many tickets you buy). Please bring your ID for verification purposes to check in. We can check in partial parties too, so if you're buying for multiple people and you're arriving at different times, don't worry about it.
