This March, we’re teaming up with the good folks at Full Moon Features to bring you a pair of old school Empire favorites back to the big screen, like you’ve never seen them before. The festivities start on Wednesday, March 5th, with the SD big screen premiere of TRANCERS NOIR.
What can we say about TRANCERS that you don’t already know? It’s one of the best sci-fi movies of the 80s, a boundary-pushing time travel flick that moves at a lightning-quick pace and delivers on every level. It’s also a film that you think back on now and say, “Damn, this is one of the ultimate 80s vibe flicks.”
So given that, what if you took away the sun-soaked SoCal 80s neon look that the film has always been associated with? What if, instead, the film were in black-and-white? What you’d realize is, as “80s” as TRANCERS always has been, underneath the hood, it was always designed as an homage to the hard-boiled noir films of the 40s and 50s. And this is the lens you’ll get to see TRANCERS through, on one of the biggest screens it's ever been presented on, when you join us on March 5th.
The folks at Full Moon have gone back and color graded the film in black-and-white, and the results are quite simply, mind-blowing. The new color palette gives the film an entirely different feel. In fact, we’d go so far to say that this new version of TRANCERS gives the 80s an entirely different feel.
