It’s fun in the sun all year round at Popcorn Reef, but Spring Break is still Spring Break, and we have to celebrate. This year, we’re bringing Harmony Korine’s modern masterpiece, SPRING BREAKERS, back to theaters on one of the biggest screens in San Diego courtesy of Mira Mesa.
Can you believe it’s been 13 years already since Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, and Ashley Benson blew us all away with their bad girl performances, and James Franco added “Spring Break…Forevaaa” to the zeitgeist permanently?
A kaleidoscope of neon colors, post-MTV millennial angst, drugs, guns, and gangsters, SPRING BREAKERS is quite simply one of the coolest movies of the past 20 years. We didn’t have luxury reclining seats back in 2013 at Regal Mira Mesa, but we do now, so it’s time to get down.
Please come dressed in your favorite spring break attire, because you’re gonna need to cool off during this one. We’ll be hosting Harmony Korine trivia pre-show, giving away prizes to the coolest Spring Breakers, and of course, we’ll have a special pre-show trailer reel on the screen before the feature starts.
It’s been 13 years, and the statement “Spring Break…Forevaaa” has yet to be disputed. On April 15th, it’s time to party.
SPRING BREAKERS Synopsis:
Four college girls (Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, Rachel Korine) hold up a restaurant in order to fund their spring break vacation. While partying, drinking, and taking drugs, they are arrested, only to be bailed out by a drug and arms dealer (James Franco).
