We lost an icon earlier this month, but, as we’ve said many times now here at Popcorn Reef, legends live forever through film. Mr. Sam Neill will always be best known as Dr. Alan Grant in the JURASSIC PARK series and as Damien in THE OMEN III, but he’s left behind an incredible oeuvre that we're sure most of you are deeply familiar with.

If it’s still been on your bucket list to see his performance as Trent in John Carpenter’s still shockingly underrated mid-90s classic IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS, we hope you don’t have Comi-Con plans on Saturday, July 25th. Because we’re bringing the party down to North Park for a special screening of the film at our favorite bookstore, Verbatim Books, which will serve as both a celebration of life of one of the most consistent screen actors of the last 50 years, and also as a book, within a book…within a book, meta film experience that you’ll never forget 😎

In MADNESS, Mr. Neill stars as John Trent, an insurance investigator who is tasked with looking into a series of horror books written by a mysterious author named Sutter Cane. They seem to be having…a certain kind of effect on people…and as Trent goes deeper down the rabbit hole, he realizes that he might not be able to pull himself out.

IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS was doing the whole “meta” thing before meta was a thing. It’s a true mind fuck of a film, and it’s also one of the coolest 90s Carpenter flicks. Come hang out with your friends, it’s free and open to all. We’ll have chairs available, but you’re welcome to bring your own blankets, pillows, snacks etc, to make yourself comfortable. We’ll also have an exclusive Sam Neill trailer reel running pre-film, highlighting decades of work from the master of the screen.

On July 25th, this is not the ending. You haven't read it yet.
